The government’s liberalizing norms on travelers visiting England have now resulted fruitful for Indian aviation industry. Over the last two years, air travelers to the United Kingdom have doubled and the figure has reached two million, as revealed in a study carried out by Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The study further said that India rose from seventh position to forth in terms of long-haul destination in the world after the US, Canada and the United Arab Emirates.

Harry Bush, CAA’s Group Director (Economic Regulation) said:

The clear and significant benefits set out in this report have come about because Governments on both sides have looked beyond the narrow interests of their flag-carriers when deciding what is in the national interest, and set policy on the basis of the bigger picture.

As a result of opening portals for the international carriers, customers in particular have benefited by the reduction in air fares, and as far as the airlines are concerned, they have introduced new services to the different parts of the nations.

The number of direct flights has almost tripled from 34 to 112 services per week in-between October 2004 and October 2006.
