After a 6 years the airlines industry was experiencing a boom, but terrorism threats resulted in tightened security thereby putting a stop to ticket fare hikes. Even then United Airlines had increased their fares by $5 for one-way trips and $10 for round trips late on thursday. The same was adopted by American Airlines but now both have stopped the increase.
Terry Trippler an industry expert is quoted to have said
“They still have the pricing power ... because they haven’t had to cut prices,”
Though United Airlines has been successful in increasing domestic fares of up to $10 per leg for tickets purchased seven days or less in advance.Well even with the terrorist threats and high security one should avail the cheaper tickets till they last.
