lowairfare_62 All major domestic airlines are contemplating to raise their airfares by 3-5 percent and the new fares are likely to be introduced on Thursday. The reduction of Low-fare tickets is also under consideration. The newly formed body Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA), an organization representing all major domestic carriers has taken this decision, industry sources said.

Starting from December till January end it is the peak period for domestic aviation industry and cashing in on this rush, companies don’t want to leave any stone unturned. Low-cost carriers are giving tough competition to the full-frill airlines, as a result they have been selling tickets at as much as 60 per cent below the original price.
Though the move is resisted by low-cost airlines, they claim that fuel cost have been reduced in international market and there is no reason for fare hikes.
