About 34 airlines have come togeather to raise funds for the worst affected AIDS country Africa. 1 December on Worlds AIDS Day, Delta, United, British Airways, Lufthansa and Air Canada among others will air a documentary called ‘Beat the Drum’ a 2003 film depicting the impact of AIDS on African children.
It will screen aboard 40, 000 flights on 34 Airlines which is expected to raise $300,000 for African charities. The screening will run through December.
The movie tells the story of an orphan boy who sets out for Johannesburg with his father’s last gift, a tribal drum. The movie has been appreciated with 29 international awards.
Shockingly, around 15 million children are orphans (under-18, many more live with Aids) across the world because of Aids in which 12 million lives are affected in Sub-Saharan Africa alone.
Its really a commendable effort initiated by Airlines to curb the disease. I appreciate the move and hope that in future more Airways will join this noble cause.
