The ritual of making sacrifices in order to please Gods has been followed since ages unknown. With the world getting technical day by day, we think that we have lost faith in superstitions and so, the same rituals are neither followed nor are they please us. In a bizarre and true accident, the officials of an airline run by the Nepal government sacrificed two goats to appeal to Akash Bhairab, the Hindu God of skies.
The sacrifice was made after one of the company’s Boeing 757 aircraft faced some technical difficulties. The sacrifice was made in front of the aircraft in accordance with the Hindu traditions at the Katmandu Airport. The airlines, which currently supports two Boeing aircrafts, had to suspend its services. Officials now say that the problem has been resolved not disclosing what the actual problem was. The tradition of animal sacrifice is common in Nepal. After all, who minds those who can’t protest!

lol! the world is getting technologically advanced and say’ fast life is moving in’.....but what the distribution of real wants and needs contained these rituals are shortening from todays human life.
When we read Maslow a American Philosopher he explains the steps of life .Those steps .
.1. Struggle for Wants and Needs
.2. Socialising.
.3. Contentment.
.4. Self Realisation .
The Entire Material Life goes Waste when we can live allow ourselves to live in the bandhan of Rituals.
Even then we had Horses and Built Homes Vouched Fancier Wives Fought Battles and Gifted Glold Ornaments and Drank Wines .......................Life in Order and Proportion is life in dicipline and one lived for God .... Beautifull article it is Khushi!
even i have a few wrd to say..break, break , break....
and thanx..
I was astounded and horrified reading this...where are we leading to...actually the more progress we are making the more superstitious bent of our mind is coming into forefront!! Keep up the good work Khushi, well done!
It is old story of Nepal. Actually, there are some superstitious belief in Nepal. Some officials may be superstitious but all aren’t same. Photo journalist of Kantipur daily was been arrested because of this incident. Really, all officials are not like that. :)
yes this is a tradition
why it’s just the head?
so where is the meat?
maybe they are doing this to ask the gods if they can lower the fuel/gas prices in the market
poor goats,
Thanks for your post, this is great.
This is really a distressing sight. How about good crews, good aircraft and good training instead.
thanks for this post, it;s so informative.
The civilization is suffering from superstations since its formation. Illiteracy and foolish superstations have defined our religious customs. Every illiterate ad add to the superstation because of poor or no realization. Illiterate Taliban gives Islam a barbaric meaning, in India Tantric has created a f*****G version of Hinduism (sanatan dharma), and there are similar Christians who has spoilt the meaning of Christianity. The actual problem is true literacy.
Animal sacrifice is common in Nepal, Assam, Bihar, Orissa, some part of Bengal and Tamil Nadu. Needless to say Indian illiterate community has strong presence in these states.
Hindu religious superstations are like HIV+ infection, there is no cure except literacy. Thanks GOD, these illiterates are not practicing public intercourse or gang rape as part of rituals!
In this lawless country weak governments never tried to develop awareness because leaders are unaware. I remember a district Superintendent of Police (I forgot name of that foolish guy) of Assam sacrificing a buffalo in temple……such a illiterate guy he is!!! The escaped powerless king of Nepal is another such character. I hope someday such shameful superstations will be checked by strict law.
